Snow Resort Tackles Soaring Energy Costs

CUSTOMER REQUIREMENTS

Snozone is the UK’s premier indoor snowsports venue. Its Yorkshire resort offers indoor skiing and snowboarding on real snow.

However, the escalation in wholesale energy prices during 2021 and 2022 created a significant challenge for Snozone. With the business heavily dependent on electricity for making snow, it faced a trebling in energy costs. As a result, it needed to find ways to reduce its energy consumption and costs.

DELIVERY

GRW Energy Cost Reduction visited the site and completed a power audit to analyse how the company used energy. This assessment showed that the site’s glycol plant that created real snow consumed the most energy.

GRW installed a voltage optimisation unit to provide more cost-effective energy usage for Snozone. Less than a year later, the snow resort experienced a saving of 14%. The company has since installed a second voltage optimisation unit elsewhere on the site to make further savings.
